Shapp Drops Sales Tax Exemption on Industry Equipment

Harrisburg AP reports Gov. Shapp agrees to drop the sales tax exemption for manufacturing and agricultural machinery while offsetting the loss with a reduced corporate net income tax from 12 to 10 percent and a higher capital stock levy. Corry Pair Sued For $40,000 In Crash

Mr and Mrs Harold Edwards of Union City sue Mary R Kinner and George Ottaway in Erie County court for 40000 alleging Kinners reckless driving caused a March 15 1969 collision on West Church Street near Hatch Street. Edwards seek 10000 from each defendant. Damage to Edwards car totaled 617 with Ottaway’s car at 100.

Two Firemen Killed in North Side Store Fire

Two firemen were killed and seven injured when a ceiling collapsed during a north side Pittsburgh fire that destroyed a brick two story store. Firemen Anthony Novelly and Robert Alleghany General Espiril died trapped under debris as casualties were rescued with chainsaws and breathing smoke from the blaze.
