Two guests perished as a fast spreading fire swept the three story 18 room Gross hotel on State street Clairton Pa. The blaze started in the office unknown origin and water froze in the frigid air as firefighters battled flames overnight. Twelve people escaped using ladders and routes to safety. The victims were believed to be Mike Papas and Mike Linias both age mid fifties. Several others suffered burns and injuries from the stairway collapse and jumping to safety. The fire was contained but caused extensive damage with parts of the roof collapsing.
