Baseball League Men to Meet Friday Night

The Corry City Baseball League will convene Friday evening in the old council chamber to begin the season. Officers and team representatives from last season will attend to select officers and plan the coming year. W. Murray of the Karls is expected to assume a key role.

Schmidt Sentenced To Death By Electric Chair

Hans Schmidt former priest and murderer of Anns Aumutler was sentenced to die in the electric chair at Sing Sing during the week beginning March 1. The sentence was passed by Justice Davis of the Criminal Branch of the Supreme Court after Schmidt, then his counsel Hawdell, declared he had nothing to say.

Express Horse Killed In Freight Wagon Collision

A dramatic accident on the Wau Mond street crossing of the Penney route involved an Express Co wagon and a Burny Conn Company rig. The horse drawn wagon struck by a northbound freight team careened over a hundred feet before stopping. The horse was fatally injured and put out of misery by the driver. The express wagon was demolished.

Health officers blocked from visiting city clinic yesterday

Health Officer W A Powell and Dr G A Eaton were refused entry by staff at Washington Street Cancer Sanatorium while inspecting sanitary conditions. Mayor John G Patterson and city commission indicated no action would be taken. inspector reports to come at next regular meeting.

Case Against Senator Gore Is Started

Oklahoma on February 11 opened a defamation and assault case brought by Mrs My Mond against Senator Gore seeking 50 100 damages for an alleged attempted assault and character harm. The alleged incident is said to have occurred in Gore’s Washington office with the district attorney’s office involved. Senator Gore’s counsel included A C Cruce brother of Governor Cruse, while the plaintiff was represented by a line of attorneys known to oppose the Senator politically.

A major East Side factory fire triggered a massive back draft injuring two firemen and ten others. Simultaneously a bomb exploded in a nearby tenement sending hundreds fleeing into the streets. police hunt the bomb’s placement as a mystery.

Second Ward Home Entered In Early Morning Break In

A stranger entered the home of John Hammond, a Kurtz Co. employee, around one o'clock. Mrs Hammond, an elderly resident, refused entry and later heard glass breaking. A man in a gray overcoat loitered at the bed room door while drawers were ransacked. Mrs Yamas and neighbor Mrs Spencer fled to nearby fields as the intruder fled. The village reported tracks and a missing lead.

Carnival Plans Announced for Midwinter Festival

Retinue announcement says a school carnival next Monday to raise funds for a Washington trip. New features include a tie concert continuous dancing candy wheels needlework booths ice cream soft drinks side shows paddler stunts and a Dutch kitchen serving sandwiches and coffee. Admission is ten cents and includes tickets for two dances.
