Corry School District hires tax bureau to collect delinquent per capita taxes

At a monthly meeting the Corry Area School District Board approved a contract with Central Tax Bureau of Pennsylvania Inc to collect delinquent per capita taxes. The service costs the district nothing. fees are added to amounts owed by taxpayers. The unpaid amount is estimated at 16 000 to 17 000 dollars.

Three Corry Men Face Burglary Sentences in Erie County

Three Corry men appeared in Erie County court for burglary sentencing after an October burglary of a West Church street apartment. Timothy Huff, 20, will plead guilty later. Martin Halfast, 22, pled guilty. Clifford Lindenberger, 20, of 23 1/2 West Main street, will stand trial.

Fire Kills 4 Year Old in Spartansburg Home

A second story blaze gutted a Spartansburg house killing Laura Michelle Silvis, 4, as authorities probe the cause. Coroner ruled death from acute asphyxiation due to carbon monoxide poisoning. Fire marshal and state police continue investigation. damage estimated at $10,000. Shelly was nap-ing when flames trapped her upstairs room. Survived by parents Ralph and Gloria Silvis, sister Lisa, brothers William and Jon, and several grandparents and great grandmothers. Burial set at Oakland Cemetery in Warren with services on Thursday.

City Council Sets Stage For Road And Sewer Projects

City Engineer David A. Johnson is expected to urge paving for the Marion Mound Congress and Frederick streets area and to push the west end sanitary sewer project this summer. The 2.5 hour meeting prioritized 1976 construction with emphasis on West Washington York Warren and Duane sewer work and a proposed pump station costing about 40 to 50 thousand dollars. Two Rural Blazes Cause Minor Losses

Two rural fires yesterday caused minor damage at two separate sites. Corry volunteers fought a blaze at the Gerald Sweet residence on Lindsey Hollow Road from an oil leak at a boiler base, with about $200 in damage. Assisting were Columbus and Beaverdam firemen. Earlier, Columbus firemen aided Wrightsville volunteers at a chimney fire at Opal Fink residence on Route 6, with minor damage.
