A fragment reports a road closure disrupting traffic on a routes system described oddly as routing yet lacking full details. Local authorities advised drivers to seek alternate paths while crews investigated the issue and planned repairs.
A Warren family of nine including Harold L. Brown 53 and his wife Ruth 31 perished in a two story house fire. Seven members ranging from 21 to 2 died from smoke inhalation as flames destroyed the home. A neighbor discovered the blaze around 4 a.m. and fire crews faced 10 degree temperatures and heavy snow before gaining control. Names of the deceased include Matthew 21 Amy 18 Andrew 9 Benjamin 8 Samuel 2 and two adult daughters Mary 22 and Peggy 20 who were away at college.
Neighbors describe Hal Brown and his six relatives as a close knit sports minded family. Hal Brown, former standout halfback at Warren High and Alfred University alumnus, served as a Navy hospital corpsman in World War I. Daughters Mary Peggy and Amy, all athletes, survived and perished in the blaze. Peggy studies physical education at Slippery Rock State College.

A USDA report shows U.S. industrial workers spent about two hours and 16 minutes to earn a nine-item grocery list in 1975, up 47.8 percent from 1974, while workers in 13 other nations averaged four hours and 34 minutes, down 5.5 percent.

Snow mounds at a Lemon West Main crossroads caused a collision between Kenneth L. Jones and Alfred F. Kuhn, with $550 total damage. Earlier on Wright and East Smith streets, Peter P. Sander and Raymond Ho collided when blocked visibility led to damage totaling $450, none to Sander.
Donald Russell of Titusville reported his 1973 jet colored Chaparral snowmobile stolen from the Starlight Inn lot at Routes 77 and 83, south of Spartanaburg. He parked it at 9 30 p m and returned about 11 90 p m to find it missing, Pennsylvania registration Br204. Corry state police were notified late Saturday night.
