Washington February 6 Representative Ellenbogen Democrat of Pennsylvania announced plans to introduce measures to allow the postal savings system to accept checking accounts up to 1500 dollars and to raise the postal savings maximum to 10000 dollars from 2500 while exempting these from local and state taxes. Fugitive from Sing Sing admits three bank holdups
William Sutton a 33 year old fugitive from Sing Sing prison confessed to taking part in three bank robberies. Police say he was captured in a West Philadelphia apartment and implicated the Corn Exchange Bank branch on Broadway New York last July and the Com Exchange National Bank branch in Philadelphia last month. He also admitted involvement in a February West Philadelphia branch bank holdup where two bandits were repelled by tear gas. Sutton was arrested after entering the apartment he rented under the name Richard Courtney. A woman named Mrs Jean Courtney 20 was held with him. Police found 8500 cash four complete New York policeman uniforms a tear gas pistol a sub machine gun and ammunition. Sutton escaped Sing Sing July 5 1981 while serving a sentence for jewel robbery. Detectors questioned the woman whose maiden name was Rene Sadary.
