Former Prime Minister John Diefenbaker told Progressive Conservative delegates he wanted to know their stance. The delegates reelected him as party leader with only 40 of 800 opposing the decision.
President Johnson makes his third trip to New York to take over duties, attend a Kennedy honored dinner, and present awards for achievements in supporting the Kennedy Foundation. A Thursday dinner supports Weizmann Institute fellowships, with 46 memorial fellowships planned.

He endorsed nine bills, urged expanded food drug and cosmetics inspections, and proposed federal help for budgeting education and consumer awareness, including regional conferences.
The State Liquor Control Board reported that beer consumption rose in Pennsylvania during 1963. Total beer cases reached 64.3 million, up from 63.5 million in 1962, while draught beer totaled 2.25 million barrels, slightly above 1962. Pennsylvania breweries supplied 38.7 million cases, down from 39.2 million.
