The Senate passed a 1.824 billion school aid measure funding classroom construction and teachers salaries but House approval of salary provisions and a possible Eisenhower veto loom. The 51 to 34 vote falls short of the two thirds needed to override a veto, as lawmakers push to act before the congressional session ends.
AP reports Pennsylvania suspensions for traffic violations take effect March 1 but do not wipe clean prior records. Two serious violations in a year trigger license requalification plus an extra one year suspension for a ninth offense within 12 months. Chronic violators may face one year suspensions pending reevaluation.
The Combined Earned Income Tax Committee schedules hearings Tuesday on tax defaults for residents. Victor Slye Wayne Street Arthur Storer Elk Street and others face potential action. Aero Supply Mfg. Co. Inc. announced an interest in International Ultrasonics, with options to buy up to 50 percent of International Diasonics for up to 200000. The deal covers production of a low cost continuous seam welder for thin aluminum foil and an ultrasonic spot welder for joining aluminum to metals, with first units in production at the Rahway plant and possible sub assembly at the Corry plant.

Corry state police report a 22 year old Corry man Harry Cosper injured in a Route 6 crash near Static Fish Hatchery. Five children and bus driver Sam Warden were marooned by 10 foot snow drifts in vast Panhandle country. Sheriff R C Johnson and rescue workers hunted through the night to reach a ranch home where all were found alive and well fed. The driver had been unable to finish the route due to the fierce snowstorm and no phone in the ranch hamlet delayed contacting authorities.
A tornado swept Bald Knob Arkansas last night, ripping through the town and heavily damaging Herman Kyle’s building and eight nearby residences, with five homes in a rural area north of town also hit. Two women, a café cook and a motel guest, were injured, one seriously.
A federal court jury convicted six men of conspiring to smuggle firearms stolen from an Ohio National Guard armory to Cuban rebels in 1958. Sentences ranged from three to five years. fines of 10,000 dollars were imposed on five defendants.

Injured logger from ED 1 Clymer, 40, was crushed by a falling tree last Tuesday and underwent surgery at Hamot Hospital this morning. Family says the operation was unsatisfactory given the severity, with surgeons noting partial spinal cord damage and paralysis from the waist down.
AP report says Ardel Galenting 26 an unemployed auto repair man was shot to death near DuBois in a hunting camp area. Guy Tyger 59 the father in law surrendered at a DuBois bar and confessed to the shooting after a domestic quarrel escalated at the Galenting home.
