Robert W. Stewart, chairman of Standard Oil, testified before the Teapot Dome committee alleging Continental Trading Co profited from oil sales and profits. He described meetings with Humphreys and others, noted photographers and newspapermen present, and asserted cheap oil purchases while denying full knowledge of the profits route. Eight people died in two house fires linked to disclosures.
A large fire at the Baltimore and Ohio railroad roundhouse in Connellsville area destroys thirty engines and damaged machine shops and shops workers' facilities. Members include Mesdames Kamps Edmunds Hawking Love Dewey and Misses Howard Austin Barnes.
Advocates pressed for a wide Senate investigation into interstate public utilities after a committee motion. The Interstate Commerce Committee authorized a comprehensive report on a Walsh resolution, proposing a Senate committee to probe holding companies operating across states. Opponents sought federal referral to the FCC but were unsuccessful.

A Franklin County jury found Mrs. Kauffman guilty on two counts for converting about $2,000 from Joseph Shaffer of Cochranstown to her husband’s account at Franklin Exchange Bank. The four day trial drew large crowds and ended with a poll of the jury likely to seek a new trial.
Colonel Charles A Lindbergh plans a goodwill flight from St Thomas in the Virgin Islands as part of his Pan American tour. After landing Spirit of St Louis on Tuesday following a 1000 mile flight from Venezuela, the journey will continue toward Porto Rico.
Preparations are under way for a joint meeting of the Kiwanis, Rotary and Corry Motor Club at noon next Wednesday at the Hotel Corry. Erie County Commissioners are expected to attend to discuss county aid for road improvements from Spartansburg to Crawford County line. The event, sponsored by the Corry Motor Club, aims to push support from nearby districts and service clubs for the road project and related concerns.
