Sinclair Aide Before Senate Investigators Admits Knowing Nothing

Carlson treasurer of Sinclair Crude Oil Purchasing Company testified before the Senate Teapot Dome committee that he knew nothing of Continental Trading Company. He signed the contract to divert 3,000,000 in profits to the Continental outfit, saying he signed under pressure from Sinclair and Stewart who also signed. He had not heard of Continental before the oil contract and the group then bought the contract on May 26, 1928.

Corry Youth Hurt In Crash Driver Fined

Harold Walters of Corry was fined 25 dollars and costs after a nighttime Jeep ride caused a crash near Youngsville. A Warren youth suffered injuries including a dislocated jaw and cuts above the eye, while the other driver escaped with minor facial cuts. The wreck tore down highway poles and cables as the speeding car fled toward Warren. The incident occurred about 10 o clock, with both youths en route to Warren when the car went off the road.

Stiff Sentences in Interstate Auto Theft Case

Homer ONeil, 27, Meadville, Pa, got five years in a federal prison. Gladys Barron, 22, also Meadville, Pa, received two years. Judge Schoonmaster handed down the sentences after both pleaded guilty to transporting stolen cars across state lines. Authorities said the pair stole a car in Galeston, Indiana, and abandoned it in Meadville, Pa, and took a machine in Adamstown, Pa, to Cuba, Nebraska, where it was left.
