Proposal to Plant Trees for Snow Control on Highways
B. L. Cumisels of Clymer urges Chautauqua County and towns to plant two or three rows of trees along roadways to curb snow drift and reduce highway maintenance costs. He argues trees improve beauty, lower long term snow removal costs, and could be funded by property owners and local bodies with minimal disruption. He cites extensive county landholdings and potential countywide adoption of a permanent, cost-effective snow elimination system.
