A wreck on East Columbus Avenue at 9 last night left two injured and a 1959 car total loss. Marvin Mead of Grand Valley drove into a tractor trailer owned by Lincoln Carting Inc. Haley of Grand Island failed to turn and backed into a soft shoulder. Charles Rodgers, 24, of Youngsville, remained in satisfactory condition with severe facial and leg injuries. Mead was treated and released. Police plan to file charges later.
ERIE The State Superior Court reversed Judge Evans in Erie County, ordering a 20 day suspension of the Union City Moose Lodge liquor license. The Pennsylvanial Liquor Control Board issued the citation for gambling devices used by club servants or employees.
City Council passed salary increases of $120 a year for most employees, boosting the total cost to taxpayers by about $4,480. Several officials will keep current pay while three staffers see higher pay, including Carl Hixson now at $6,000 and James Miller at $4,500. The panel also approved a street snow deposit ban and other ordinances, with votes three to one amid absences. Continued on Page Six.
Erie County Recreation Board signals interest in a public recreation facility in the southeastern county end. The Corry golf project remains pending financing as the Golf Commission seeks loans, with $1 017 in new bills approved as a loan to be repaid when the course opens and earns revenue. Pete Russo, named director of the Recreation Board, plans January talks in Corry with the Golf Commission to review progress.
Clin ton State College sophomores face one to three years in prison for looting 54 to 65 cars in Warren County. Joseph Eakin Richard Douglas and Otto F Jensen, all 19, were sentenced by Judge Alexander Flick and ordered to restitution. They admitted looting cars in Warren Borough Tidioute Tionesta Jamestown New York.

Greensburg resident Charles W. Cain, 21, is jailed in Westmoreland County on murder charges for the death of Ralph Daniella, 40, found with head and back wounds in his Mount Pleasant apartment. Cain was arrested Tuesday and held without bond. motive not disclosed. In Vietnam, Viet Cong ambushed 100 marines as they opened graves for four U.S. servicemen shot earlier near Binh Ghia, with a helicopter down and four crewmen feared dead. Marine losses reported heavy. unit withdrew and planned another attack.
Local income tax forms were mailed yesterday from the office of income tax receiver R Elwin Fuller. Forms were sent to Amity Township Wattsburg Borough and Venango Township where he serves as collector. Totals include Corry 2732 Amity 204 Wattsburg 128 Venango 388. Employers may list their name if not self employed and self employed must fill out the form. April 15 is the deadline with a one percent monthly penalty for late filing or payment.
PITTSBURGH AP reports Eugene Nelson, 35, admitted operating an unvented heater and was sentenced to five 30 day terms in Lee County Jail. He chose jail over a $100 fine and was lodged in jail when unable to pay the amount set by Magistrate B N Johnson.
Residents along West Columbus avenue and Wayne street endure mud and trench flooding from a new sewer line project. City officials say unseasonable rains hinder pavement and street work while plans for a Route 6 bypass face delays.
At a special meeting Council examined four Alderman Porter handled on income tax violations. Three cases sparked questions over investigation timing and all cost the city 12 in alderman fees. One case involved a deceased individual, another a boss whose affidavit claimed no employees, and a third a filing failure with an affidavit. The council approved paying all four fees and assigned Abbey to pursue with city tax receiver R Ulwin Puller, reporting back to council.
Warren General Hospital boards approves a five percent general salary adjustment and raises the daily general service charge for patients effective tomorrow. The increase covers services from linen, housekeeping, and maintenance to nursing, records, admitting, and medications. Nursery charges for newborns are included.
The Corry Savings and Loan Association declared a record December dividend of 95 742 to 2 000 shareholders. Of the total, 9 000 goes today to 190 shareholders with the rest posted to others. The December payout brings the 1964 total to 162 600.
City Council approved about 850 for two mobile radio units to be installed in the Streets Department, part of the 1985 budget. Dorr Clark, Streets director, to order the units. Bids for a new police cruiser to be opened January 7 at 8 p.m. and the 1961 model will be traded in. Fire department to receive two new trucks.
A Graham County man, Jim Willing, was sentenced to six to 42 years in prison for the murder of his wife Helen Willing. He was convicted yesterday after police found the couple in their Towne home. Willing received a $2000 fine as part of the sentencing.
