Howard Hughes 72 a WPA worker was found dead in his boarding house at 519 West Highth Street Erie from carbon monoxide fumes. He was last seen Saturday morning and died possibly after a bath when a gas range exhausted oxygen. Funeral arrangements pending at Hanley and Sons. survivor is Mrs. Boland of Corry.

Harry Fennell of Culmerville Pennell received two years in the Allegheny county workhouse and a $500 fine after being found guilty of accidentally killing Arthur E. Carlson of Kane, Pa., during deer season. The shot was fired as Carlson bent to skin a deer. Fennell claimed it was an accidental discharge. The gun and case were recovered near Carlson’s berry, six miles north of Marianna. Judge Avild offered the option of Forest county jail or the workhouse. Fennell chose the latter.
