Members of the Chamber of Commerce Board elected James Hammond to the presidency for the coming year. Hammond, a former Democratic candidate, had resigned last fall amid controversy but was chosen again after an organizational meeting at Ginnies Cafeteria. The board named Willard S Gibson as first vice president Darwin F Whicall as second vice president Carl E Anthony as treasurer and renewed Stewart A. Long as manager.
