Police investigate a fatal assault after an auto wreck near Old St. Peter's Episcopal church. Rev. Dy Benjamin Biswell was found beaten and barely clothed in his apartment. homicide detectives say injuries suggest fists and possible smothering with a pillow. Police recovered the priest’s personal items and notes indicate a recent release from prison of a suspect.
The Justice Department Tax Division reports 502 persons prosecuted for criminal tax offenses in 1956. Convictions and guilty pleas arose from investigations during the year, with the division closing over 4,150 civil and criminal cases, a record high, and receiving more than 4,200 cases, surpassing prior years.
Cincinnati transit launches a new coach service with airline hostesses aboard guiding bankers and lawyers from Mt Lookout to downtown. The seven mile trip runs about 25 minutes with nonstops outside Mt Lookout as the plan introduces hostesses from the airline to entice riders.
