Shootout Leaves Pittsburgh Officer and Suspect Injured
In a Christmas Eve shootout on Pittsburgh's North Side Patrolman Benjamin Milearik Jr. was shot in the thigh and Roy Lee was wounded in the mouth. Both in guarded condition at Allegheny General Hospital. Lee had been firing a revolver into the air near his home after returning from a party. police say he fired from a second floor window before being struck by a police bullet.

Stabbing Suspect Free on $5,000 Bail
Tyrone Howard, 21, of Cleveland, is free on a $5,000 bail after posting bond while facing a second degree murder charge for allegedly stabbing John E. Fitzpatrick, 36, of Euclid, at Higbee Co in downtown Cleveland as Fitzpatrick waited in line with his children to see Santa. The stabbing occurred amid a crowd of about 78 witnesses and three Fitzpatrick children. The weapon, an 8 inch butcher knife, was not recovered.
