Erie County marriage license filings and local incidents calendar
Marriage license applications filed in the Erie County courthouse include Raymond L. Amy age 19 of 265 West Washington and Barbara Ann Pate age 20 of 437 South Center. Police received snowmobile complaints from East Irving Street at 9 45 p m with sleds found running at Loveland Field but not on streets or yards. A two car crash at Duane and Marion streets caused 500 in damage with no injuries. Rexford L. Messinger 22 of R D 1 Shady Avenue said his westbound car was struck on the left by Ronald A. Munn 20 of 69 Airport Road, sending Messinger into a snowbank and causing 150 damage to his car and 350 to Munn s. A stray grey Angora cat is at the police station after being turned in by Roseann Bolan of 17 ½ Mill Street, owner to claim. A typographical error in the Corry Winter Carnival ad mis-stated the departure time for the trail ride, with 12 30 a m instead of 10 p m. A West Smith Street plaza fire scare turned out to be a kerosene heater flame reflecting off plastic storefront covers. Fire Chief Jerome Davis noted the reflections looked like a fire. Asson was born to Mr and Mrs Earl G Martin, 95 Snyder Circle, at Corry Memorial Hospital, not a daughter as Journal had reported.

Union Leaders Halt Memphis Hospital Strike
A 12 week strike against St Joseph Hospital in Memphis ended after union leaders and rank and file voted to return to work Monday morning. Rev Ralph David Abernathy announced the strike’s end on the courthouse steps with four ministers released from jail on $1 bonds. The dispute centered on which nonprofessional workers would vote in a union representation election. The effort followed boycotts and a biracial push to widen Negro representation on the all white school board.
