Mayville Corry rail line subsidy plan eyed by county
A county feasibility study proposes state aid and private subsidies to operate the Mayville to Corry rail line. If shippers contribute about 125 per car and the county spends 1 million to buy the line, the Delaware and Ostego Railroad Company could run it at a net loss but with car rental revenue offsetting. Officials note Conrail currently subsidizes operations and that rapid action would be needed to pursue the plan.
