Philly mother charged after girl stabbed in blood drinking claim

Five year old Myeneshia Moore told police mommy stabbed me and planned to drink her blood. Carla Moore, 30, a substitute teacher, was arrested on attempted murder and related charges after admitting to plunging a butcher knife into her daughter's stomach. The child was hospitalized in critical condition following surgery. Neighbors described the mother as divorced and normal, noting vodka consumption.

Christmas burglar hits Oasis and Desiy Bar in holiday spree

City police probe a holiday burglary spree that struck Desiy Bar at 2 East Main street and Oasis earlier, breaking front windows and reaching through to unlock doors. A charity coin box was emptied of about $2.50, with investigators seeking the suspect or suspects.

Copter Crash Kills Two in Quincy Building

A radio station traffic helicopter crashed into a two story apartment building in Quincy killing two people and injuring four others. The helicopter occupants were reporter Chip Whitmore and pilot Red Banks. The injured include Julia Verga 62 Ronald Michelson 28 his wife Lynn 26 and a 10 week old baby. All were taken to hospitals with conditions not yet known.

Fatal Route 36 crash kills Tionesta man near Pleasantville

Corry state police logged five crashes over the holiday weekend including a Christmas Eve fatality in Venango County. William C. Weaver 21 of Tionesta was driving at high speed on Route 36 south of Pleasantville when he lost control, overturned, and the car burned. Passenger Donald Haker of Oil City survived with guarded condition. Weaver died at the scene awaiting autopsy. A disorderly conduct case was also investigated during the period.

York Street Opened After Sewer Work Ended Delays

York street residents celebrate as city crews and the sewer contractor finish the overhaul and reopen the road after weeks of mud and water. City Administrator Robert Grice notes the opening was a council priority and that laterals on York will wait until spring or summer. Cianfrani to Plead Guilty on Most Counts

Charlie Chaplin Buried in Swiss Graveyard Ceremony

Charlie Chaplin was buried in Corsier-sur-Vevey Switzerland in a 20 minute simple ceremony attended by about 30 relatives and staff. His widow Oona and seven of eight children were present as ministers officiated and prayers were recited before the coffin was lowered. Police enclosed the burial area for observers including 150 reporters and villagers.
