Corry Man Killed In One Car Crash On East Main
Leroy A. Hazeltine, 46, of Mead Avenue, died after his car struck a utility pole on East Main Street just after 10 PM. Passenger Ronald Proper, 28, of Essex Street, was hospitalized in fair condition with head and body injuries. Police note no braking evident and a witness reported the speeding vehicle approached from behind.

Man Hazeltine 46 Dies. World War II Veteran in Corry
William Hazeltine age 46 of Corry died after a period of illness. He was born April 13 1925 in Garland and attended Spring Creek and Columbus schools. He married Frances Umstead in 1950 and she survives. A veteran of World War II he worked as a welder for Rogers Structural Steel and belonged to United Steel Workers of America and the American Legion. Surviving besides his wife are a son William and five daughters Linda Lindstrom Nancy Mildred Barbara and Brenda all at home a mother Loretta Hazeltine a brother Kenneth Hazeltine a sister Mrs Richard Bemis and one grandchild. Friends may call at St George Funeral Home tomorrow 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services there at 2 p.m. Friday with burial in West Lawn Cemetery Columbus.

Kurt Waldheim an Austrian career diplomat who has served at the United Nations since 1955 will be its secretary general for the next five years. He was named to the post after a Security Council vote and will take office January 1. Waldheim, on his 53rd birthday, praised the UN charter for offering wide possibilities and vowed an active tenure. He earns a $62,500 salary plus living differential and allowances and free housing.
