Brown Urges Small Industries Start In Pennsylvania
Harrisburg says small neighborhood industries can form in Pennsylvania at favorable times. Richard P. Brown notes, Every major industry began with a small start. He cites Ford and other examples and argues Pennsylvania's resources and labor aid in creating peace-time employment. He envisions workshops in backyards or garages, aided by evolving opportunities from global events and the shift of European production to war goods. He warns of substitute supplies and notes coal, minerals, and farming can yield new products, with many ventures starting as neighborhood enterprises. He stresses industrial research and the need to develop industries within the state, calling Pennsylvania rich with "acres of diamonds" ready to be mined locally.
