Attorney Kurt Ahlborn reports involuntary manslaughter charges fled against Harms after a school bus collided with a train. The incident left multiple injuries and sparked a transportation safety inquiry.
Grieving crowds prepare for funeral services for six of twenty children killed when a school bus was struck by a Union Pacific train at a grade crossing. Duane Harms, 24, the bus driver, faced involuntary manslaughter charges and posted bond.
A three car collision near Felver's Grocery on East Main Street injures a 2 year old boy and causes about 5350 in damage. Donald Hockenberry of Youngsville pulled from a parking lot when Ronald Messenger of Spart Creek approached, Messenger braked hard, his car hit the Hockenberry vehicle, and a Komenda pickup was damaged. The child, Jeffrey Foania, was treated and released from Cony Memorial Hospital with no injury found on X rays. Police note Messenger's car sustained 950 in damage with other vehicles damaged as listed. Mercury and weather continue to plunge with forecasts for subfreezing highs and lows.
