Keating to Get Erie City Work Also Likely
Corry Democrat Charles Py Keating, formerly of Erie, is named state sealer of weights and measures with a $1000 yearly salary and expenses. The post, to be shared with Joseph Gordon of the First ward, will inspect scales in stores and may lead to abolition of the Erie city office, saving about $1000 yearly. County commissioners anticipate appointing the mercantile appraiser later this month, with talk that the job may go to a prominent Democrat outside Erie.
