A northbound freight collided near Hurlburt's crossing scattering a boxcar and blocking the track. Train 2 waited hours at Panama station before being rerouted and passengers were transferred around the wreck on the northbound service. The mishap caused notable disruption despite limited damage.

Columbus Man Returned to Jail

Jmey Stevens of Columbus was returned to jail after a release last week. He had been detained for a town disorder and was ordered to stay away from Columbus, but returned and was taken into custody by local officers en route to Warren county.

A lively local Progressive meeting in the Prantion building drew 35 attendees. President W H Cole presided as committees reported. a December 18 rally was set and a permanent club with 75 members was planned to engage in municipal and national politics.

Five Die in Maryland Wreck on Baltimore and Ohio Line

Five trainmen were killed and four injured when a heavy coal train split on a grade on the Baltimore and Ohio road. The rear portion ran down the embankment and toppled. The dead include Carl Masters of Hyndman Pennsylvania and Newton Martz of Kennell Mills Pennsylvania. three others are buried in the wreckage.
