Soviet Union cuts off with Albania in bloc split

In Moscow the Soviet Union severed diplomatic ties with Albania in the largest Communist bloc rift since Yugoslavia's expulsion. Khrushchev's attack at the Moscow party congress and Albania's leadership under Enver Hoxha precipitated the break, with Albania backed by China and possibly North Vietnam and North Korea. The Albanian ambassador returned home recently and Moscow ordered the withdrawal of the Soviet embassy and commercial staff.

Pinned By Car Area Motorist Earns Injury

Leonard H. Willcox 28 of Corry escaped injury after his station wagon overturned on Route 6 four miles west of Corry. His vehicle skidded on ice, struck guard posts and rolled over several times. He was pinned briefly then freed by a passing motorist and taken to Mercy Hospital, later released. Vehicle demolished with $450 damage.
