Delegations meet in Honolulu to discuss U S plans for the Far East as talks heat up. A flight to New York is planned this week with a meeting expected with General Douglas MacArthur soon afterward.
President elect Eisenhower, aboard the USS Helena en route to Hawaii, will fly to New York for talks with General MacArthur on shortening the Korean War. A White House plan for MacArthur’s possible post remains undecided as aides note no fixed meeting time or location.
A damaged insulator shorted a main 33 000 volt line to Corry causing a momentary outage until a West Washington substation switch rerouted power from Warren. REA lines serving Crawford County areas were out for nearly an hour until Elgin switched to Warren source. Residents in Carter Fl and northeast Crawford County faced power loss during the delay.

Two youths robbed the J. D. Diner on Route 6 between Coudersport and Smethport, taking 205 dollars. Seven hours later state police questioned two youths identified as Thomas Berry of Scenery Hill and Donald R. Hosafloak of New Salem. They were arrested in Austin, Pennsylvania.
In Altoona Pennsylvania a truck toppled and fatally struck 69 year old Giovanna Laratonda at a street intersection. The victim’s body was carried more than 100 feet on the truck bumper before being released.
President Truman rejected talk of a White House conference with General MacArthur and Eisenhower. He said MacArthur must not be drawn into a political plan and warned against misinformed reports about their possible meeting.
