Driver Charged In Sparta Mishap
Randy Rice of RD 1 Venus was charged by Corry state police with driving while intoxicated after an accident in Spartansburg at 3 45 yesterday afternoon. MOSCOW AP The American Bicentennial exhibit in Moscow was evacuated and closed for the day today after a telephone bomb threat but no bomb was found. About 1,600 Russians were in the Sokolniki Park exhibition hall when an anonymous caller said a plastic explosive would go off. The call reached the Soviet deputy director of the exhibit. American officials said the Soviets suggested from the beginning that the threat was a hoax. Frank A. Ursino, the exhibit's American director, decided to close the show as a precaution. The bomb squad was not called this time, as it had been after a previous threat. US officials privately suspected the first threat aimed to curb turnout. A brief search was conducted today by the exhibit's American staff.
