AP report notes a free rock festival east of THACY California drew up to 280000 youths. Four men died due to stabbing and drowning incidents near the stage. Police and medical staff treated many overdoses and injuries, while dozens of doctors and psychiatrists staffed on-site tents. Names of the deceased include Meredith Hunter 18 Berkeley and two others.
The body of 52 year old Erie resident Trene Lucille Fuller was found near the sewage disposal plant. Coroner Merle Wood said drowning is suspected but not officially ruled yet. Two Erie teens discovered the badly decomposed body at 1 30 pm while duck hunting along the east bay shore, with identification confirmed by a relative. Items found at the dock corroborated the missing person report. Coast Guard searches had been conducted for days.
In Londonderry Northern Ireland a magistrate granted Bernadette Devlin’s lawyers a one week delay to complete their defense against 13 charges of violence and incitement to riot tied to Londonderry’s August uprising. Magistrate John Shearer accepted the defense plea.

The 22 year old Irish Catholic member of the British House of Commons did not appear in court and entered no plea. No adjournment of the case was requested. the next step is scheduled for Monday.
Mrs. Albert Arnink 87 of Clymer died at Corry Memorial Hospital. Born November 6 1882 in Eldred she lived most of her life in Clymer and was a church and club member. Surviving son Floyd three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Services at Spitzer Funeral Home Wednesday with burial in Clymer Cemetery. Oscar Willis 73 of R D 2 Corry died at Corry Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness. He was born April 15 1896 in Freehold Township Warren County and worked on Erie Railroad and at Aero Supply in Corry. Survived by daughter Kathryn Thomas son John Willis six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Bracken Funeral Home services Tuesday. interment Pine Grove Cemetery. Moose Memorial Service at the funeral home Monday night.
In Harrisonburg Virginia campus turmoil continues as 950 students raise funds to cover a 110000 shortfall for a 1.5 million library project. Coeds bake pies and cakes while male students offer services to raise money, with a campus auction to culminate the drive.
