A crippling blizzard blankets Corry Pennsylvania with 24 inches on the ground by midmorning and 11 degree temperatures as schools close and downtown stores plan to shut early. Police report few injuries after a snowbound pickup crash near Lawville and Route 69. The storm disrupts travel across Crawford Mercer and Venango counties with plows overwhelmed and drivers urged to stay off roads. Congressman Marks office offers aid monitoring the situation.
Corry remains snowbound with main arteries closed though local streets are passable. City Administrator Robert Grice said plow crews have operated since 2am using five plows two road graders and two four wheel drive plows and are only maintaining passable lanes with no widening or cleanup. York Street closed for sewer work. motorists urged to stay off roads unless necessary.
Columbus Township negotiated a loan through The National Bank of Corry to buy a new snow plow costing about $60 000. Supervisors passed the resolution at a special meeting. Township secretary Jordan Christensen said delivery would occur this month, with loan repayment over three years starting January and interest under six percent.
Carmine Berardinelli 34 faces an administrative complaint for burying as many as 1531 infants and stillborn babies in mass graves under Newark Public Welfare contracts. He says the practice dated to 1900s and earned $19 per child. No criminal charges yet, but a license hearing is set for December 21.
City Police Chief Kenneth Nichols says the November 19 rape and assault on a 63 year old Corry woman remains open. State police crime lab in Lawrence Park is analyzing evidence with a chemist assigned to the case to determine a blood type to help narrow suspects. Investigators report ongoing progress and new leads as they pursue the assailant.

FBI released 40 001 pages on the Kennedy assassination showing J Edgar Hoover stating two hours after Kennedy's death that Oswald was the man and a mean minded individual. The files include Cuba connections and a Havana letter to Oswald but offer no decisive new insight into the conspiracy theories. The FBI will release another 40 000 pages next month as the full record is opened.
Corry Police Chief Kenneth Nichols said foot patrols cover known crime areas only when manpower allows. With 13 officers for a five square mile city, he notes peak hour foot presence on busy nights and explains downtown patrols diminished after merchants received free parking. He adds emergency access remains adequate and cites Corry’s low crime rate as evidence of effective policing.
