Warden defies rebels to save guards at Arizona prison

Florence AP report: Warden Frank Eyman led 25 lawmen in a dawn assault to free two guards held by 40 inmates who threatened to kill hostages. In the ensuing firefight Moses Adams, 24, was shot in the back but expected to survive as inmates failed to breach the yard gates. Hostages Wright and another guard were rescued unharmed as the siege ended around 1 p.m.

Bemis Brothers Barroom Brawl Lands Brothers Behind Bars

Early this morning the Bemis brothers Robert and Russell, 23 and 21, caused a bar fight at Frank's Tavern owned by George Meerhoof in Clymer. Police jailed them for disorderly conduct after a wrecking spree that overturned furniture. They pled guilty before Magistrate M B Cobbeut and were fined 100 dollars each with possible jail time if unpaid. They had just been released from county jail for burning bury south of Corry and faces further court action Monday in February.
