Mother and child unhurt after car runs off highway
Police said Mrs Kenneth Yoder and her 2 year old daughter Cindy Loa were westbound on Route 1 when Yoder lost control on a curve after hitting a patch of ice. Their car left the road, struck a tree, and the occupants were removed unhurt by passing motorists. A second crash occurred seconds later as Ronald Stowe, 47, drove off the road to avoid ice, crashed into a fountain foundation on hatchery grounds, and fared with minor injuries. Damage to the first car was about $600. fountain damage was minor. Stowe was unable to file a report at the scene.

An Erie hunter, James Smith, 29, was shot in the chest while deer hunting near Waterford on Wednesday. He underwent surgery and was found unconscious near his car later that night.
