Damaging insects like Japanese beetles and borers reduced the 1980 Pennsylvania corn harvest, especially in southern counties. Yields averaged 45.5 bushels per acre, lower than last year but above the ten year average, with total production about 61.425 million bushels. Harvest delays and storage issues loom as much corn remains soft. Police conducted five raids and arrested six on numbers charges in McKees Rocks, seizing slips and cash.
