Employment Of Handicapped Is Increasing

Harrisburg reports show an average of 134 physically handicapped persons employed daily last fiscal year, an 11 percent rise from 1954. The State Bureau of Rehabilitation notes 377 individuals were rehabilitated and trained. many faced low earnings and reliance on family or public/private aid, yet post rehabilitation earnings rose to 7 million for 6 percent in suitable jobs.

State Fights Ivy Poisoning Campaign Launch Planned

State Highway Department will launch an ivy poisoning campaign early next spring led by Secretary Joseph J. Lawler. The Safety Bureau notes a record of workers allergic to ivy and those affected last summer will be offered immunization with net gains in efficiency and full-time employment.
