Start of a new Pinchot road improvement east of Beaverdam, with over three miles to be surfaced this fall. Work began Thursday on the Beaverdam end as road machines operate, aiming to complete the three mile stretch from Beaverdam Corners to near Donation Hill and extend toward the Corry city line. The project plans include two sections and possible later work to reach North Center Street, providing an improved Beaverdam to Corry route via West Columbus.

Guards Will Be Increased At State Prisons

Woman with kin struck down at Titusville tragedy in oil region
Mrs. Pearl Vanderhoof, 45, of Titusville, dies after ingesting mushrooms believed eaten at a field near Jerusalem Corners. J. W. Wescoat, 59, of Jerusalem Corners, in serious condition at Titusville hospital from the same incident. They had gathered mushrooms Monday, cooked them for supper, fell ill that night, and were taken to hospital Tuesday. Vanderhoof died Thursday. Wescoat’s condition remained serious with doubtful recovery. Vanderhoof is survived by several children and many siblings. Wescoat, a longtime Pleasantville area pumper, is well known locally. The two had been estranged from Vanderhoof’s husband.
