Second Day of Convention at Meadville

Meadville Aug. The League of Third Class Cities held its second convention day with Mayor DeGeller of Bradford addressing Honest Weights and Measures for Third Class Cities. French Now Well Established In Secondary Defences

Paris reports the French embassy states France is now well established in its secondary defences and can hold off the Germans indefinitely. It adds that the Prussian attack near Nancy has been repelled but at enormous loss. Also, the Dels wire and Hudson Steamship Company canceled the Oceana voyage to Genoa, citing Italian agent concerns about safety.

Twelve Died As Pacific Liners Collide At Sea

Seattle, Aug 20 Twelve men of the crew of the Admiral Samson were drowned when the flat geasel was rammed by the Princess Victoria off Point No Point about eighteen miles from Seattle. Among the victims was Captain Sidney Moore. Details of the accident were not yet learned.

A stranger in Corry used a cooperative grain buying pitch to lure farmers with a sound cheaper by the hundred pounds offer and promised a return via a Chicago car and binding bill. One victim gave a $21 check and investigators learned the check was not cashed and no party by the given name is known locally.

Arcade Robbery at Traction Building Sees Little Taken

Between early morning hours and daylight thieves broke into the Traction Building Arcade on North Center Street by forcing a screen at a rear window. The cash register was opened and about a hundred pennies were stolen along with possible losses from the cigar case. The store reopened around seven after being left unlocked overnight, suggesting the break occurred near daylight.
