Beaverdam Electric Line Construction Assured

Beaverdam unit of the Northwest Rural Electric Co operative will begin building electric lines within weeks. Lewis unionization drive gains momentum in three centers

Pittsburgh Aug. 25 United Press reports the John L. Laws campaign to unionize the steel industry moves into high gear as steelworkers' leaders from three major producing centers meet to coordinate efforts against the Carnegie-Illinois Steel company.

Commonwealth Edison reported July net of 777970 compared with 482414 for the prior year. For seven months the company earned 6161456 against 598541.41 the year before, reflecting the 1995 period figures.

Board Moves to Speed Work on Hatch Building

The Board of Bilocation met to accelerate remodeling of the Hazen building into a Vocational School. J Henton reported launching the project with Frank W Parsons as general forenity to supervise interior work and lower story revamp. The board authorized 200 purchases to prevent delays and will review plans with architect Kar Morrison next Monday.

Honor Colony to be built near Huntingdon for youths

Welfare Secretary John D. Pennington announced the plan to construct seven two story model buildings for youthful first offenders about one mile from the Pennsylvania Industrial School at Huntingdon. Architect John Hunter will draft the plans for 14 rooms per building with a mess hall and recreation building. Bricks will come from Torrence State Hospital.

Landon Levels Guns at Dems at Chautauqua

Landon assailed the Roosevelt administration for taking citizens money to fund shabby propaganda. Riot at Georgia State Prison Kills One and Wounds Fifteen

A prison riot at the Georgia State Prison left one inmate dead and fifteen others wounded. W L McDaniel, 81, of Atlanta, was shot when guards opened fire into a white dormitory as inmates attempted to batter down a floor, according to prison superintendent Roland Lawrence.

Pennsylvania Revamps Relief Administration Amid Transition

Gov Basle announces a statewide revamp of the federal relief agency SERB with six county boards to assume administration by mid September. Narrow Escape At Columbus From Deep Water Rescue

Ming Folith Palmer, 22, of Eric, slipped from a raft into eight feet of water during a swimming gathering near the din. She sank three times before Robert Reynolds, 14, and bystanders helped pull her to the surface. She recovered after the scare.

WPA Sewing Project Shifts to New Location
