Chautauqua season praised with strong attendance and events
The 95th Chautauqua season closes soon with applause for program breadth and rising gate receipts. Beeson Youth Center on the lakefront signals growth as families take longer vacations and the Summer Schools draw over 1,200 students. Jazz trumpeter Al Hirt attracts about 10,000, and the upcoming Up With People concert is anticipated. In North Carolina, Linda Faye Steele and James Edward Bates wed at Seymour Johnson AFB Chapel in a formal ceremony with notable attendees and post ceremony dinner in Goldsboro. The couple plans a two week Niagara Falls honeymoon and will reside in Goldsboro, with the bride pursuing East Carolina University studies and the groom serving as a chaplain’s assistant at Seymour Johnson.

The Rehoboth Class of the Evangelical United Methodist Church met Wednesday evening at the summer home of Mr and Mrs Glenn Humes on Whitney Run road. Twenty four members and guests shared a tureen supper. Laurence Aldrich led the business session with closing devotions by Ruth Lyons and prayer by Rose Waldron.
