Officer Slain Preventing Lock Haven Robbery
Patrolman Robert W. Probst, 26, was shot three times as he surprised a robber breaking into a Loan Company at the rear of Community Savings and Loan in Lock Haven. Fellow Patrolman Martin J. Peters exchanged shots with the intruder, who escaped. Probst died at a hospital. The attacker was described as about five feet seven inches tall, 145 pounds, with dark curly hair.
