Suppression of Cuban Revolt Near Victory Report
United Press dispatch from Havana reports loyal federal forces claim victory on all fronts after intense fighting and early suppression of the rebellion. Gibara, a key eastern seaport, reportedly restored to federal control after 48 hours of clashes with rebels. Texas estimates about 600 rebels and federals were defeated in the Gibara battle, the worst of the two weeks of civil war. Sources say veterans from multiple nations aided the expeditionary force, while authorities withheld full confirmation but indicated rebels were captured or driven from Gibara.
