Baron Kiichiro Hiranuma, 75, vice premier and minister without portfolio, was shot in the chest and jaw by a 33 year old assailant at his Tokyo home. Despite injuries, Hiranuma chased the attacker, who was captured at the gate. His condition is listed as serious.
