Four youths aged 19 to 29 were arrested in Sharon Wilkinsburg and Mast Pittsburgh after a Manor National Bank robbery last Saturday. About $2,100 of the $4,000 stolen was recovered by state police in western Pennsylvania as the suspects offered no resistance. The arrests followed a noon Saturday heist in Manor when five employees were ordered to lie on the floor. A car driven by a fourth youth carried the group away.

Byrd Rescued From Isolated Antarctic Hut
Rear Admiral Byrd, emaciated and unshaven, was rescued after four months in a hut on the Ross ice barrier. A tractor party led by Dr. Thomas C. Pontter reached Byrd after a three day, risky journey through polar darkness. A faulty gasoline stove fumes left him weak and unable to care for himself. Niagara Falls rock slide reshapes contour at the falls
Niagara Falls Ont August 13 hundreds of tons of rock loosened by the rushing Niagara River slid from the crest of the famous Canadian horseshoe falls and crashed into the lower gorge 160 feet below.
