Preparations Completed for Columbus Reunion Picnic
Hundreds of Columbus residents and former residents will gather at Mather Parke on Wednesday for the seventeenth annual Columbus reunion picnic. Committees report all arrangements in readiness for the day with music by Coleman’s band of Union City and a baseball game between the Company Annie and the High Stars of the Andratriad Baseball League at 2 pm. An all day program of sports and entertainment features a cafeteria lunch with dried chicken baked beans salt fish cakes bread cottage cheese and coffee. Work launched on senior high project

Expert Swimmer Arrests May Drowns In Lake Follow Crash
Michael Deloplat of 9 Seryal Street disappeared while swimming from shore to the breakwall near Martin Street and was found dead in Findley Lake. The drowning followed a lakefront gathering where he warned bathers he would swim half a mile out. In a separate incident a deputy sheriff clashed with youths after a dance, leading to threats of wholesale arrests and an intoxicated New York driver involved in a vehicle collision near the hall. Boy Drowns in Cuba Lake during Family Outing
Walter Snyder, year old son of Mr and Mrs Clapp ince Snyder of Bostonio, drowned Sunday at 2 PM when a canoe tipped over on Cuba Lake. Jerry Reynolds 18 of Wellsville struggled to keep afloat as Zack Eastman in a power launch reached the scene and assisted. Despite efforts, Snyder sank, and the Snyder and Reynolds party searched for the body. The Snyders were visiting the Reynolds family for a day at the lake.
