STANFORD UNIVERSITY Calif Aug 11 Tens of thousands gathered at the Stanford stadium for Herbert Hoover’s Republican presidential nomination ceremony as planes trains and cars moved crowds toward the campus. Officials prepared a 100000 seat plan with coverage by a 99 station radio network and a four band program. Hoover planned to address issues and return to Washington next week.
A severe heat wave eased as showers moved through the eastern region. Cooler air followed the storms, with temperatures dropping by as much as twenty points by Monday morning. A deadly electrical storm in New York caused three deaths and significant property damage including a fatality near Plainfield and another in Queens.

Cincinnati August 11 William J Dayorar and Sidney Nacan were indicted by the Hamilton County Grand Jury on charges of buying votes They are accused of conspiring to have other legally registered voters cast absent ballots and of encouraging vote buying as part of a campaign effort The indictments cite Charles P Taft as county official and surveyor and candidate for re election as the authority behind the case
In Toledo on August 11 Mrs. Phi Neubert, 27, and Wallace Stich, 64, a World War II veteran, shot themselves in what police called a death by own action pact. Their bodies were found on basement stairs after they crawled through a window to meet for their joint death.
Erie buyers have purchased about 300 acres north of Cutting on Findley Lake road for a muskrat farm. An Erie man named Smith reportedly owns the right side tract beyond Cutting and has started development with assistance from the Clymer Realty Company. The swampy land is deemed ideal for the enterprise.
United Press dispatch reports from Shanghai that Roy Chapman Andrews expedition in Mongolia has found prehistoric monsters unknown to science. A missionary who met the American explorers at their interior base said the discovery is the expedition’s greatest find. The creature is described as the grandfather of the largest known monsters, with a saddle-shaped head and a 400 pound headbone.

A Studebaker roadster collided with a West Ridge Transportation Company vehicle. occupants uninjured though car badly damaged. Rebels slain in Mexico three hundred surrender in weeks in Aguas Calientes Fausco Collins reported by war department. Thelma ONeil of Mine visited friends over the weekend.
Sunbury Pennsylvania August 11 A Sunbury lawyer named Houseworth sustained a head wound in a shooting incident amid unclear circumstances. Police and medical staff treat him at Mary NM Pochoy Hospital as investigators review possible motives and suspects.
Reports from Ely and surrounding towns detail extensive storm damage from a Northwest Pennsylvania outbreak. Lightning felled barns in Oil City and near Seneca and Fryburg, with losses surpassing ten thousand dollars in Oil City and about six thousand at J. M. Moorehead’s Erie Road property. A Beaverdam cloudburst flooded meadows, while Meadeville saw a large barn destroyed on the Scowden farm. A downed pole near Warren disrupted lines and traffic as crews repaired damage.
