Mrs Keppel Tiffany newly elected secretary accepts dues for final charter membership from D Armour Hillstrom at Nichols Lodge Mead Park. Frank Grice elected president Arden Baldwin vice president Mr Tiffany secretary and Walter S Peake treasurer. Committees to be named next meeting.
The 71st Johnson descendant reunion was held Sunday at Mead Park with 89 members and two guests from multiple communities. New officers were elected. gifts went to the oldest and youngest members, with births, marriages and deaths noted. next year’s reunion will be in Waterford. The sixth annual Ploss reunion also held at Mead Park drew seven attendees with newly elected officers and plans for future meetings and a museum tour.
Birdie reports on family travels to Decatur Ohio and Olean New York, visits by Ellsworth Harmon and Eva Gates relatives, and a Mead Park Williams-Culver reunion set for August 22 with a 1 p.m. picnic. Day Camp activities for Girl Scouts from Columbus Corry Spring Creek and Union City end today at the Corry Management Club grounds on East Columbus Avenue Miss Ursula Johnson of Warren led as camp director and Mrs Jordan Christensen of Columbus served as program director for the week long camp. The event included demonstrations led by Donna McEldowney and participation from Cathy McCaslin Jane Emerson Ruby Sekerak Marcia Mi and others with leadership help from Basil Bright William Helmintoller Richard Cole Homer Black Ross Bailey Gordon Bater Richard Emerson Charles Nichols Richard Bogert Howard Mowers Kenneth Sickler Raymond Sickler Sharon Messinger Judith MacGregor Lin Krupa Brenda Sr.
The Missionary Fellowship of Church met last evening at the home of Mrs Raymond Hamilton of R D 4 with nine members present. Mrs Ronald Crosscut, president, led the business session and the group worked on capes for choir members. Refreshments were served. Mrs Leland Crosscut will host the next meeting at her home on September 14.
Sandra Weicht bride elect was feted at a bridal shower at Miss Toni Armstrongs home 33 West Pleasant Street. Guests enjoyed games and refreshments and gave gifts from Corry and nearby communities. The couple plans a candlelight wedding ceremony at 7 30 in the Eoareelical United Brethren Church.
A party in the YMCA all purpose room celebrated Marty Roehrig's 16th birthday with 85 guests. Prizes went to Pete McLaughlin and Sherri Ott for elimination dance, Denny Dyckes and Jane Pedensky for spot dance, Donald Antrim for a special award, and William Roehrig Jr. DJ and hosts were Marty's parents and the Vanssens.
Rotary Club hosts luncheon at Hotel Corry to discuss an auction during Bazaar Daze in downtown. Craig Hyer chairs the event set for Friday and Saturday in front of the Penelec office with visiting Rotarians from New Port Richey Iowa Wellesley Hills Mass Bristol Conn and Cor. The session was led by L. C. Nichols and blessed by Rev. Walter J. Thoms.
