Canada orders air traffic controllers back to work
The House of Commons voted to end the strike by ordering air traffic controllers to return to duty. The emergency bill, sent to the Senate, imposes a 7.4 percent pay rise and allows fines of up to 100 dollars per day for noncompliance, with passage seen as largely ceremonial. The CATCA leadership urged members to resume work once enacted. The stoppage since Sunday disrupted tens of thousands of travelers and led to mass layoffs of about 3,000 workers.
