City officials review a proposed finance plan to manage street work and city utilities. The discussion aims to fund road improvements and assess equipment needs as authorities seek to stabilize budget and service delivery.
The Corry Area Industrial Development Corp board retired its balance with the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority and voted to lend 25000 to Erie County Plastics Corp for its 12th expansion. The firm has grown to 160 employees and occupies over an acre with 29 injection molders installed. The meeting at Hotel Corry discussed paying off the PIDA loan to avoid the state holding a first mortgage.
CAIDC formed in 1960 with over 125 000 from public contributions. Since then it has attracted seven industrial plants including Curry Boad Products Curry Rubber Crestline Dowell Erie County Plastics and International Foam. A U S Air Force B57 Canberra bomber crashed explosively on a main street in Nha Trang. At least 12 Vietnamese civilians were killed and 4 Americans plus 63 Vietnamese injured. Both crewmen bailed out before the bomber dove toward the South China Sea. they landed safely. The deputy commander called it an accident in a combat area.
