Plane crash kills six passengers and two pilots near St Louis

A Lockheed passenger plane on the Memphis to Chicago route crashed near St Louis shortly after takeoff from Lambert field killing six passengers and both pilots. Ground fog likely caused the disaster with no mechanical faults found. Wreckage found miles from the airport and bodies transported to a Clayton funeral parlor.

Seven Die In Head On Crash Near Miels Aug. 6

Seven persons were killed in a head on collision on US Highway 81 four miles from here early this morning. The victims, all from St. Louis and nearby areas, were members or associates of the 6th infantry unit. The crash involved a light coupe and another car with three residents of Niles. All but two died at once. Newby died later at Niles hospital. Police doubt witnesses, and funeral details were not released.

Bus Crash Near Water Street Kills Two. 13 Injured

A chartered bus traveling from Chicago to New York wrecked on the William Penn highway near Water street 16 miles west of here in rain. George Kukich of Pittsburgh drove the bus which swerved on a grade, overturning and ripping out fence posts. Dead are H Haulle 48 Youngstown and Florence Corrigan. Three of the injured remain in critical condition including Mrs Martha Gray 31 Mrs Lois Kelly 25 and Mrs Mary Singleton 87.

Tarentum Man Held After Wife Stabbing

Allegheny County detectives questioned John Cincilla, 48, in connection with the slaying of his wife Theresa, mother of several children. He fatally stabbed her with a butcher knife in the backyard during a heated quarrel yesterday. He was reported to have fled before authorities.
