Series of Wrecks Leave 10 Dead and 50 Hurt
Meantime several Corry residents were injured in a weekend crash spree in the region. Charles Swanson and his wife from Spring Street plus two grandchildren narrowly escaped serious harm when their car left a sharp curve at Ludlow and I, overturning. Mrs Swanson was treated for back injuries and taken home by Alexander & Company ambulance. Swanson, the children, and the car driver Charles Craker escaped with minor injuries. Florence Joy, near the State Hatchery, broke an ankle and suffered bruises in a collision on the Unionity-Waterford highway around 3 pm Sunday, riding with Glen Humes from near Cambridge Springs. the Titusville car allegedly involved was driven by John Koran. Humes sustained cuts to face and arms. other occupants were not hurt. The Humes car damaged severely. State police investigated. Joy was brought home for care and will be sidelined for some time. Other Meadville dispatches noted Mrs J Button of Corry injured on Conneaut Lake road amid multiple wrecks between Erie and Waterford caused by slick highways after a heavy storm.

Two Polish fliers rescued after 38 hours at sea
Majors Lois Akowall and Casimir Kubala survived a trans Atlantic attempt from Le Bourget to New York. After engine and fuel trouble they plunged into the sea and were rescued by the Hamburg American liner Samoa after about 38 hours afloat. Both officers, war veterans, received hospital care in Porto and planned a Paris departure to continue the attempt.

Death of 12 year old in coastal blast tragedy
Robert Francis Davinson of Los Angeles died from injuries after a crate of Norwegian origin explosives washed ashore near Del Mar. His companions George Peachman Walter Worth and Herbert Kahre were injured. The blast, linked to a whaling gun explosive, occurred as youths played with debris from a drifting crate along the San Diego coast. Davinson's death was confirmed at Scripps Memorial Hospital. he is survived by father Douglas Davidson, sister Estella Matle Davidson, and his grandmother in Los Angeles.

Report on 18 westward crossings shows only two successes. One two stop flight reached Greenland, another failed to finish. Several groups were rescued at sea, including Lieut Wade, Lieut Geder, Signor Locatelli, F T Courtney, Majors Idetkowste and Kubala. Three groups failed to complete after starting. Textile strike spreads to Fall River mill center
Fall River Mass August 6 The New Bedford textile strike now in its seventh week spread to Fall River today with about 1200 American Printing Company workers walking out at noon. It is feared more of the 4500 operatives at other concerns will follow. The American Printing Company is Fall River’s largest mill, part of a city employing between 30 000 and 85 000 persons.

Three Die In Crossing Crash Near Salem
In a late night crash on the Stark Interurban line near Salem three men died when their auto collided with an electric car. Victims were Simon Gunesch aged 59 and Andrew Wagner 55 of Salem and Frank Tishbell 50 of Alliance. Also note a drowning incident at Cypher Beach Bedford County where Frad Fisher 15 of Potter Creek reportedly drowned after entering a 15 foot hole while swimming.
