Oil City Hikes School Property and Personal Tax
Oil City hikes school property tax by two mills and reduces per capita tax to zero in the tentative budget for the 1947-48 school year. The real estate levy reaches 21 mills, the first increase since 1943, while the overall high level of taxes remains below 1926-27 peaks. The added levy funds rising costs across school operations as announced by the budget committee at a special meeting.
