Independent baseball comeback sparks local fanfare
The town anticipates an independent Comy nine with young players aged 19 to 27, led by Chuck Williams, aiming for entertaining exhibition baseball despite limited material. Mid Atlantic League opens Friday with eight clubs including Niagara Falls and Uniontown, while Erie Sailors and others seek top status. Derby talk centers on Phalanx and Faultless, with Arcara riding Phalanx as odds favor two horse race. Local fishing, horse show, and stadium fence updates add to a busy sports week as communities plan doubleheaders and new leagues.
